Leading member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) legal team in the 2020 election petition, Lawyer Akoto Ampaw has been confirmed dead.
The unfortunate news according to report occurred in the early hours of Friday, October 20 at the University of Ghana Medical Centre where he was receiving treatment.
Lawyer Akoto Ampaw gained prominence when he represented the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo in the 2020 election petition. He led a legal gteam that won the petition brought before the Supreme Court by the National Democratic Congress.
Reports indicate that the astute legal practitioner has been ill for some time now. It further added that he fell ill in the beginning of 2023 and has since been battling one condition after the other until his unfortunate demise.
It is currently unknown what caused his death but many have indicated that conditions associated with old age might have triggered some hidden ailment causing his demise.
