OSP storms home of Cecilia Dapaah, mount search after arrest

Officers from the Office of the Special Prosecutor have stormed the home of resigned minister for sanitation and water resources, Cecilia Dapaah to conduct search after she was placed under arrest.

The Minister over the weekend resigned from her position after news of huge sums of money was stolen from her house by some house helps she hired.

The case is currently in curt but many Ghanaians have expressed shock over the development.  A Citi news correspondent stationed at the home of Cecilia Dapaah reports that some armed police officers are currently searching her house.

I’m currently at her resident in the Ayawaso Constituency. There were three black pickups filled with police and military officers. She came out from one of the pickup vehicles. The search has so far taken about 35 minutes and we can see officers going up and down with their guns.  The former minister does not look worried she looks very healthy and does not appeared to be bothered”, he indicated.

The OSP in a statement disclosed that  “At 11:55 GMT on 24 July 2023, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, who resigned from the position of Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources on 22 July 2023, was placed under arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in respect of suspected corruption and corruption-related offences regarding large amounts of money and other valuable items reportedly stolen from her residence.”

“Ms. Dapaah is being questioned by authorized Officers of the OSP.”
