Ghana’s vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia is currently in a contest against some four other candidates of the New Patriotic Party for the presidential candidate slot.
The first half of elections where the super delegates of the party went to the polls saw Dr, Bawumia emerging the winner.
Many have indicated that the likes of Kennedy Agyapong and Alan Kojo Kyeremateng will give the vice president a hot contest in the September 2023 election which will cover a larger chunk of the delegates.
As part of efforts to emerge the winner again, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia has visited the palace of the king of Ashanti, Otumfour Osei Tutu II. He visited the king and asked for his blessings as he prepares for the next delegates’ election.
“I came in peace, and today being Akwasidae, I came for a visit and to celebrate with him (Otumfuo). Again, I came here initially to ask for his blessing when I was going to contest for the flagbearership of the NPP. He blessed me, and God also blessed his blessing, which materialized for me to win the contest on August 26, 2023.” He indicated
He adds that he trusts the Ashanti King to bless him and show him the way to victory.
“We have another contest coming again on the 4th of November, where we are going to elect the flagbearer, and I still need his blessing. So, I came to ask for his blessing and inform him about it, that he may give me his blessings and show me the way to clinch victory. I thank you so much, and may God bless you.”
