Don’t vote for a potential prisoner – Akuffo Addo tells Assin North voters

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has told voters of Assin North to desist from voting for any candidate who is entangled with legal issues and can face imprisonment later.

According to the president, no candidate can work from jail as the NDC representative, Gyakye Quayson has indicated that he can even win the election from prison.

Eligible voters in the Assin North constituency are set to elect a new member of parliament in a historic by-election. Their member of Parliament, Gyakye Quayson was stripped off his position after the Supreme Court ordered parliament to do so.

Nana Addo Dankwa told voters in the constituency not to vote for Mr. Gyakye Quayson again. He says Gyakye Quayson is entangled with legal battles and is likely to be jailed.

“It is crucial for us to exercise our voting rights responsibly. We should not support or vote for individuals who are entangled in legal controversies that may eventually lead them to face imprisonment”,
“We need someone who can come and help you. Someone who will work in your interest. I heard Gyakye Quayson say that even in prison, you people will vote for him, can he work from jail? We vote for people to go to Parliament to work, how can he work from prison so don’t vote for someone who will end up in jail, vote for someone who can work to improve your lives.” He added.
