Meet Akufo Addo’s sister who has been made Abrewatia in Akropong

A sister to the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has been installed as the Abrewatia of Benkum Kyeame Abusua of Akropong Akuapim in the Eastern Region of Ghana.

Popularly known as Marigold Nana Abena Oye Akufo Addo, the new Abrewatia received the title due to her numerous contributions towards the development of her community.

She is spotted on many occasions solving problems of indigenes and indulging in activities that promotes development.

Her civic leadership in Akwamufie has attracted her the name Abrewatia a Odi Amantrasa in Akwamufie, Okuapiman and Ahenease (Akyem).

Her gathering which was intended to be a small one saw the attendance of a high powered delegation including the first lady, Rebecca Akufo Addo, a former Minister of Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Betty Mould-Iddrisu, a former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu Arkuful, the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Attah, the Minister of The Interior, Ambrose Dery;; and the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Acheampong.

She served on the Board of the Commission on Culture from 2003 to 2007 and is currently the chairperson of the Creative Industries Project Ghana (CIPG).

In 2012, she founded Kasafie Foundation, an organization that provides therapy to children living with autism.

“I stand on the shoulders of generations of matriarchs who have preceded me in serving Okuapeman and I will do everything within my power to help Okuapeman tap into the boundless possibilities that lie ahead,” Marigold said.
