The office of the Special Prosecutor has officially granted bail to resigned Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Dapaah. This was after officers from the office of the Special Prosecutor conducted search in her Abelemkpe residence in Accra.
She was earlier arrested and interrogated by the Special Prosecutor after the Chronicle newspaper reported of a court case involving her house helps. They are being accused of stealing huge sums of monies from her apartments.
The searches by the Special Prosecutor were related to the alleged million-dollar cash stolen by housekeepers, which led to her resignation on Saturday.
She was earlier on the same day taken to her cantonment residence where a thorough search was conducted by the officials of the OSP.
The OSP is expected to provide updates to Ghanaians on what transpired from its interrogations and search since details of why she was arrested remain scanty.
While the exact nature of what was discovered during the searches is yet to be fully known, reliable sources have indicated that the OSP might have stumbled upon something significant that can help the investigation.
As part of the ongoing investigation, sources say that more of Mrs. Dapaah’s relatives will be questioned.
Furthermore, she has been served with the declaration of income and property forms, indicating the seriousness of the allegations against her.
Mrs. Dapaah’s arrest and the subsequent search operations have undoubtedly captured the nation’s attention, given her previous role as Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources.
