I’ll win the election and put all to rest – Gyakye Quayson

Parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress in the Assin North Constituency, James Gyakye Quayson has expressed confidence in winning the by-election.

He told Umaru Sanda in a Citi News interview that he is focused in winning the seat and everything will be put to rest.

“I don’t think I have a strong opponent as people are saying. In 2020, I was a new candidate with no footprint in the community. But from the last two years, there is nothing the government can put their hands on in terms of development until the last two weeks before the by-election, they started working on some roads. But they have been exposed. I’m confident and focused on winning the seat,” he indicated.

Addressing the issue of vote buying, Mr. Gyakye Quayson indicated that he will never be engaged in the act. He adds that his opponent is rumored to be deceiving voters with money but his track records will speak for him.

“I will not get involved with the issue of vote buying. I have been told that people are buying votes. I will never buy votes from anybody. I have been able to bring some development to the people of Assin North in this short time I was their member of parliament. I was able to install over 2000 light bulbs in every part of the constituency,” he added.

He also responded to a comment by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo urging voters in Assin North not to vote for a candidate who might be jailed in the future.

“He (the president) should have directed that question to the EC. I don’t intend to extend any exchanges with the President but he is a lawyer and should not say that because he knows everyone is innocent until proven guilty. I will be surprise that with his legal background he could say that. He should have known better”, he added.
