Many communities in Africa have limits for women in terms of education. Most traditions believes women must marry and give birth instead of enduring many years of education.
There are however many African ladies who are willing to pursue higher education but lack of financial support is preventing them from achieving their dreams.
The good news is that there are many scholarship opportunities available for women from Africa in Europe. These scholarships are provided by governments, Universities, private bodies and many others.
– Erasmus+ scholarship program: One of the most well-known scholarship programs for African students in Europe, the Erasmus+ program offers scholarships to both first-year and advanced students at African universities, as well as to Africans who work in Europe.
– African Talent Initiative (ATI) 2024: The African Talent Initiative (ATI), run by the African Leadership Centre, offers scholarships to African students who are studying peace and security, government and leadership, and economic development.
– Rhodes scholarship: The Rhodes Scholarship is one of the oldest and most prestigious scholarships in the world and is given by the University of Oxford in the UK.
– Gates Cambridge scholarship 2024: The Gates Cambridge Scholarship is offered by Cambridge University in the UK, and offers African students full financial support and the chance to grow as people in their careers.
