Member of Parliament for Okere Constituency, Dan Botwe is the latest to endorse the Vice President, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s bid to contest the presidential election of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
So far, ten strong personalities have been vetted to contest for the election which is slated later in August. The party has indicated that a special delegate’s election will be held to elect five candidates for the main delegate election later in the year.
All ten candidates are currently campaigning for votes in all the sixteen regions of Ghana. They have been interacting with delegates to be considered when the time is due.
Many Members of Parliament and Ministers in the current NPP government have endorsed Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia as the best candidate to face NDC’s John Dramani Mahama. There are however others who believe otherwise for reasons best known to them.
Local Government Minister, Dan Botwe has broken his long silence on the contest by indicating that the vice president is currently the best bet for the NPP if they really want to break the eight.
“After much thoughtful consideration and careful analysis, I am confident that the best strategic decision for the NPP is to elect Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as our flagbearer,” Botwe told delegates.
He again indicated that Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia’s records are unmatched and as such, he deserves to lead the party. He also highlighted Bawumia’s unbreakable records of unwavering loyalty and competence to the New Patriotic Party.
“When it comes to the future of our beloved country, Ghana, the NPP is the only party that can guarantee progress,” Dan Botwe declared to the rallying crowd.
