Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Paul Afoko, and former Chief of Staff, Kojo Mpiani, have paid a courtesy call on the party’s flagbearer and former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, to congratulate him and discuss preparations toward the 2028 general elections.
The meeting, described as cordial and symbolic, brought together key figures from the party’s past and present leadership in what observers see as a show of unity and goodwill.
Afoko and Mpiani, both longstanding members of the NPP, have played notable roles in the party’s growth and internal organisation over the years. Their decision to personally congratulate Dr Bawumia is being interpreted by party supporters as a gesture of solidarity and renewed commitment to the party’s future.
Although details of the discussions were not immediately disclosed, sources indicate that the engagement centred on encouragement and well-wishes for Dr Bawumia as he leads the party into the next electoral cycle.
The visit underscores ongoing efforts by senior party figures to foster cohesion and strengthen internal relationships as the NPP strategises for the 2028 polls.
