It came as a shock to many Ghanaians after news of some angry person stormed the studios of United television to interrupt a live program on Saturday.
The young men whose images have since gone viral introduced themselves as members of the New Patriotic Party who feel dissatisfied over the panel arrangement of panel members of the United Showbiz program.
They indicated that the entertainment program now discusses political topics and as such the Party (NPP) must also be presented to air their views.
The police were subsequently informed and the thugs were arrested. According to statement released by the Ghana Police Service, a total of sixteen persons have since been arrested.
“Following a complaint from the Despite Media Group and Ministry of Information that certain people had invaded the studios of U-TV this evening, the Police proceeded to the scene and arrested sixteen (16) persons in connection with the incident. They are currently at the Police Station assisting investigations,” the statement indicated.
Following the development, the National Commutations Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) visited UTV to render an apology. He indicated that the Party was unaware of the development and as such, the laws must deal with them. The Ministry of information has also in a statement condemn the act.
In a video that has since gone viral, the young thugs were seen speaking with the police and trying to explain their point. They indicated reasons why their voices must also be heard on the show.
