Man ties daughter’s boyfriend to tricycle and drags him through streets at Assin Breku

A disturbing incident has reportedly occurred at Assin Breku in the Central Region, where a man allegedly tied his teenage daughter’s boyfriend to a tricycle and dragged him along a rough road as punishment for maintaining a relationship with the young girl.

According to information gathered, the victim, identified only as Kwame, had been dating the man’s 14-year-old daughter despite several warnings from the girl’s father to stay away from her. The father, angered by what he described as repeated disobedience and disrespect, allegedly decided to take matters into his own hands.

Eyewitnesses in the community claim the furious father confronted Kwame and issued him a terrifying ultimatum — to choose between death or severe physical punishment. Moments later, he reportedly tied the young man to a tricycle, commonly known as “Pragya,” and dragged him through the streets of Assin Breku, subjecting him to intense pain and injuries as residents looked on in shock.

Sources say the rough nature of the road worsened the ordeal, leaving Kwame with visible wounds and bruises across his body. Some community members attempted to intervene, but fear and confusion reportedly delayed immediate action.

The incident has since sparked outrage among residents, with many condemning the father’s actions as inhumane and excessive, regardless of the circumstances. Others, however, argue that while the relationship with a minor was wrong, resorting to mob-style punishment was unlawful and dangerous.

Kwame was later rescued and is said to be receiving medical attention, though the extent of his injuries has not been officially confirmed. The matter is expected to be reported to the police for investigation, as the act constitutes assault and unlawful harm under Ghanaian law.

Meanwhile, child rights advocates are calling for a thorough investigation, stressing that while parents have the right to protect their children, violence is never the solution. They also emphasized the need to address the issue of minors engaging in relationships with older partners through education and proper legal processes.

Residents of Assin Breku are urging authorities to act swiftly to ensure justice is served and to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The shocking episode has reignited conversations about vigilantism, child protection, and the dangers of taking the law into one’s own hands within communities across the country.
