“Nana Akufo-Addo can be classified as the worst president this country has ever had — A Plus laments

Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has elaborated on his recent controversial statement describing former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as “the worst president this country has ever had.”
According to the outspoken lawmaker, his comment was largely based on the performance of the Ghana cedi under the former administration. He argued that the depreciation of the local currency, which at one point saw the dollar trading around GH¢17, significantly affected businesses and the cost of living for ordinary Ghanaians.
A Plus contrasted that period with what he describes as the current stability and improved performance of the cedi under President John Dramani Mahama. In his view, the relative strength of the currency now reflects better economic management and has brought some relief to citizens.
Explaining further, A Plus dismissed claims that his criticism stems from personal dislike for the former president. He stressed that he once admired Nana Akufo-Addo and supported his leadership at the beginning of his tenure.
“People think I hate Nana Addo, but that is not true. I loved him as a person when he started governing this country,” he indicated.
However, the Gomoa Central MP added that he believes the former president “got lost along the way” and ultimately mismanaged the country’s affairs, leading to economic hardship and widespread public frustration.
His comments have generated mixed reactions, with some agreeing that currency instability was one of the biggest challenges of the previous administration, while others argue that global economic factors also played a significant role during that period.
The remarks continue to fuel political debate, especially as Ghanaians assess the performance of past and present leaders in managing the country’s economy.
