‘I will not sleep; I’ll work tirelessly to return NPP to power in 2028’ — Bawumia

Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has pledged to work relentlessly to lead the party back to power in the 2028 general elections.
Dr Bawumia gave the assurance on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when a group of party delegates paid a courtesy call on him at his private residence to express their confidence in his leadership.
“I want to assure you that because you have imposed your confidence in me, I will work at all times to ensure that we win power in 2028. I will not sleep. I will work day and night to ensure that I bring the power to the NPP,” Dr Bawumia stated.
The former Vice President underscored the need for unity within the party, describing it as a critical ingredient for electoral victory. According to him, the NPP has the numerical advantage over the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), but must consolidate its base to secure victory.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we are able to bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
Dr Bawumia further indicated that the party’s rebuilding efforts had entered a new phase and called on supporters to remain committed to the cause.
“Our task is clear. At this time, we are moving to phase two. So I want to plead with you all to assist us in this fight,” he added.
