Cape Coast Mayor takes community engagement exercise to amanful east and west at nkwantado

Community engagement and citizen participation remain at the heart of effective local governance. In line with this, on Tuesday, 3rd February 2026, the Mayor of Cape Coast, Hon. George Justice Arthur, together with the Metropolitan Co-ordinating Director, Mr. Asumah Adam Braimah, and some management members of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, took their community engagement exercise to the Amanful East and West Electoral Areas at Nkwantado.
The team was warmly received by the Assembly Members for the two Electoral Areas, Hon. Abraham Woode and Hon. Victoria Swanzy, as well as elders, opinion leaders, and residents of the communities.
Addressing the gathering, Mayor George Justice Arthur highlighted a number of developmental projects successfully undertaken by the Assembly and outlined plans for upcoming initiatives within the metropolis. He emphasized the important role residents play in local development and urged them to fulfill their civic responsibilities by paying property rates, securing building permits, and obtaining business operating permits to enable the Assembly mobilize the needed resources for more development.
He further encouraged community members to actively participate in communal labour whenever it is announced, rather than leaving the responsibility solely to their Assembly Members. He also appealed to residents to paint and maintain their buildings to help improve the beauty and image of the city.
Residents, on their part, shared their concerns, ideas, and expectations, contributing meaningfully to discussions on how to improve their communities.
The engagement reflects the Assembly’s commitment to inclusive governance and working hand-in-hand with citizens to drive development across the Cape Coast Metropolis.
